Green buildings concept catching up in Delhi/NCR

21 Sep

The concept of Green buildings or a sustainable house that consumes lesser energy, water and materials is fast catching up in Delhi & NCR. Buyers are becoming aware of the advantages of residing in a green building. The demand for such projects is increasing which is boosting the confidence of developers. Apart from being environment sensitive, buyers are also looking at the economical aspect of a green building. Naturally lit, ventilated and designed for climate are few of green house features.

Consumers can get benefits like reduced operating costs, energy savings upto 50%, water savings upto 30% and reduction of air conditioning running costs by 33% from these features. The main objective behind the construction of a green building is to provide a healthy and natural environment to the residents.

The 3C Company has few green residential projects in Noida including Lotus Boulevard, Lotus Panache and Lotus 300. Vidur Bharadwaj, Director, 3C said that the momentum of green buildings will reach Gurgaon market also slowly. “We are also planning to enter Gurgaon with our green projects. Gurgaon and NCR need it badly to lower their operating energy and water consumption to reduce load on the infrastructure. This can only happen if each project builds sustainable with reduced water and energy demands,” he said.

Gurgaon, which relies heavily on the diesel-powered generators as a back-up to the system, is a costly affair. When asked if green feature like solar energy is feasible in a market like Gurgaon, Bharadwaj said that since the northern part of India receives plenty of sunlight, solar energy can easily be used to generate power. “Our project Shunya is running completely on solar power in Noida. Our climate in Delhi and NCR allows us to tap into solar power. In fact, we have used it in a couple of projects for both, water heating and power generation,” he added. Moser Baer, Tata BIPV etc are few players in the market offering solar technology.
